Our Story
Dreamer Designs was born from frustration — and built on a better idea.
In 2019, Dreamer Designs founder Brandon Lam looked at the diamond painting market and saw a community full of passionate diamond painters being let down. Kits were built on stolen designs. Quality was an afterthought. Customer service was an afterthought. The artists who inspired it all were not getting the credit they deserved.
He decided to build something different.
From the start, Dreamer Designs stood for four things: legally licensed designs that respect the artists who create them, materials that are actually worth your time, customer service that treats you like a person, and a community where diamond painters genuinely belong. Over the next seven years, that idea grew into something rare — over 1,000 licensed designs, a thriving community of devoted artists, and a reputation built on doing things the right way.
A New Chapter
In October 2025, Dreamer Designs welcomed a new owner: Eric Ritvo and his family.
Eric didn't come looking for just any business. He came looking for something with soul — a company that had already earned its community's trust and had room to grow. He found it here.
Eric was raised with a deep appreciation for art. He has memories of visiting the symphony with his parents, walking through art museums with his grandmothers, and — in his words — "less fondly, listening to his sister sing along to Broadway musicals." Today, he and his wife are passing that love of art on to their two young children. When he discovered that Dreamer Designs' kits were living as finished works of art on the walls of people's homes, it meant something to him.
Dreamer Designs is a family-owned business now, and it operates that way. Long-term thinking. Staying close to what's being built. Caring about getting it right — and owning it when we fall short.
The kits, the licensed designs, the quality, the community, the customer service you rely on: none of that is going anywhere. We're building on the foundation Brandon created, not replacing it.
What Makes Our Kits Different
Every component of a Dreamer Designs kit is chosen intentionally.
We use only legally licensed artwork — over 1,000 designs created by artists we've partnered with directly. You won't find our designs anywhere else. We use the highest-grade resin diamonds for maximum sparkle and color accuracy, and we include 20% more diamonds than you'll need so you're never left short. Our canvases are printed on premium woven polyester — crease-resistant and made to last. And every kit ships with everything you need to get started, beautifully packaged and protected.
Our kits are manufactured at a family-owned factory overseas — a partner we know personally and trust completely. In April 2026, Brandon and Eric visited the factory together, a fitting final milestone in the ownership transition and a moment that meant a great deal to both of them.
What Hasn't Changed
The reason Dreamer Designs has always been special isn't just the kits. It's you — the artists and community members who choose to spend your time and creativity here.
We exist to give diamond painters, artists, and enthusiasts a home. A place with designs worth making, materials worth using, and people behind the brand who actually care. That's been true since day one. It's still true now.
We're glad you're on this journey with us.
We chose the highest grade 100% woven polyester to print our designs onto.
We made this decision because we were tired of dealing with the cheap, plasticky feeling of other kits we had experienced in the past. We also knew that this material would be crease-resistant, making it a more seamless diamond painting experience. Of course, we finalized the designs in advance and had them all set up for printing beforehand.
Once they are printed on this huge sheet of canvas we need to cut them into individual designs.
Once they are cut, we began to assemble the kits. The canvas is very well protected and you are able to get started on your kit as soon as you open it. Simply unroll it from the foam roller and lay it flat, and the canvas will start taking its shape right away.
Once each of the pieces in the kit has been collected, we begin to assemble the kits themselves. We begin by assembling the boxes, then the canvases that you saw being rolled, the packaged accessories tool kit and finally the diamond packaging. The kit is then labeled with the info label at the bottom indicating the proper design and dimension so that we are able to send out the correct designs.
The final touch is our carrying handle. We really love this feature on our packaging! It makes for easy transportation if you want to bring it over to a friend’s house for a diamond painting and wine night, and even makes a cute little gift if you wrap a ribbon around it. Each box also has a plastic film wrapped over top so that the box won’t get scratched during shipping.
That’s it for the actual creation of the kits themselves. So much work goes into the creation of the kits, and we are so glad our friends at the manufacturing facility are so lovely and committed to our vision of excellence and quality.
Of course, that’s not all.
We have to go through many more steps for these kits to go from our factory to your door! Once each kit is made, it goes through rigorous quality control. Only then is it approved to be sent to our warehouses in Reno and Chicago. By warehousing in two locations in the US, we drastically cut down your shipping time. Instead, we’re able to offer 2-4 day shipping to all of our US customers!
We have a team here that is fully dedicated to this brand, and are working extremely hard to build our diamond painting community and deliver the highest quality kits to you!
Transparency in this process is our top priority. We hope our story was informative and answered all your curiosities. If you haven’t already, please feel free to join us on our journey on our social channels.
