Frequently Asked Questions: DMC 310 Drill Quality

We know some of you have experienced frustration with DMC 310 drills in recent kits — drills sticking together, higher-than-usual “trash” counts, or difficulty getting a clean pick. We hear you, and we want to share what we’ve learned and what we’re doing about it.

What happened with the 310s?
Our overseas drill supplier began reusing their production molds more frequently than they should have — and didn’t tell us. Over time, this led to drills that clumped together and a higher percentage of unusable pieces in the mix. We only became aware of the scope of the issue when your feedback started rolling in, and we immediately began investigating.

How did Dreamer Designs respond?
Our CEO traveled to China to meet with our factory in person. Those conversations were candid: we made it clear that drill quality is non-negotiable for us, and that we’re prepared to find a new supplier if improvements aren’t sustained. Since that visit, we’ve seen meaningful changes — and we’re holding them to it.

Are the drills better now?
Yes. Kits produced since early 2026 include improved drills, and we have new production molds in the works that will elevate quality even further. If you’ve recently purchased a kit from our newer releases, you should notice a difference.

What if I have a kit with problem drills?
We’ve got you covered. Reach out to our Customer Support team, let us know which kit you’re working on, and we’ll send replacement 310s at no cost. We’re also proactively including extra 310 drills in all shipments to make sure you have more than enough to finish your canvas beautifully.

Will this happen again?
We can’t promise perfection — diamond painting drills are machine-made, and a small percentage of “trash” is unavoidable across the industry. But we can promise transparency and accountability. We’ve strengthened our communication with our supplier, and we’re keeping a close eye on quality as new mold drills roll out. If something isn’t right, we want to know — and we’ll make it right.
